How to Add Funds to Your Angel One Trading Account Safely

Published 2026-10-16 · Aadarna Stock Broking Pvt. Ltd.

Unofficial guide. Written by Aadarna Stock Broking Pvt. Ltd., an Authorised Person of Angel One Ltd., to help account holders. App screens and menu names change with updates, so follow the steps shown in your app. For official help, visit the support section of angelone.in.

Key takeaways

  • Add funds only through the Angel One app or website, never to any individual's account.
  • Money must come from a bank account in your own name that is linked to your trading account.
  • UPI and net banking usually reflect quickly; bank transfers can take longer.
  • An Authorised Person is not permitted to collect money from clients.

Before you can buy shares, you need money in your trading account. Adding funds is simple, but it is also where most payment frauds happen, so it is worth knowing exactly how it should work. This guide covers the general process for an Angel One account.

Screens and options change with app updates, so follow the current steps in the Angel One app or the support section of angelone.in.

The golden rule

Money for trading goes only from your own linked bank account to Angel One's designated client account, through Angel One's own app or website. Never transfer trading money to an individual, an Authorised Person, a relative of a staff member, or any account shared with you on a call, message or social media.

Ways to add funds

  • UPI: pay from the UPI app linked to your registered bank account. Usually the quickest.
  • Net banking: pay through your bank's net banking page opened from within the Angel One app or website.
  • Bank transfer (NEFT/RTGS/IMPS): to the client bank account details shown inside your own Angel One app. These details are specific to the broker; use only what the app shows you.

General steps

  1. Log in to the Angel One app or website.
  2. Open the funds section and choose to add funds.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Choose UPI or net banking, and select your linked bank account.
  5. Complete the payment in your UPI app or bank page.
  6. Return to the app and check that the amount shows in your available funds.

If the payment is debited from your bank but does not show in your trading account, wait a little and refresh. If it still does not appear, contact Angel One support with the transaction reference from your bank.

Why payments get rejected

  • Paying from a bank account that is not linked to your trading account.
  • Paying from someone else's account, even a family member's.
  • Using a UPI ID linked to an unregistered bank account.
  • Entering incorrect bank transfer details.

Rejected payments are usually refunded to the source account, but it can take time. Linking the correct account first avoids the problem. See our guide to [changing your linked bank account](/angel-one-guides/change-bank-account-angel-one).

Only add what you plan to use

Money sitting in a trading account does not grow by itself. Add funds when you plan to invest, and withdraw what you do not need. Under SEBI rules, brokers also periodically return unused client funds to your bank account as part of a running account settlement, unless you have chosen otherwise.

Spotting payment fraud

  • Anyone asking you to pay into a personal account is a red flag.
  • Never share your UPI PIN, OTP or bank passwords with anyone.
  • Do not scan QR codes or click payment links sent by unknown people claiming to be from your broker.
  • If you suspect fraud, stop, inform your bank and Angel One, and report it on the national cyber crime portal.
